Sparrows and Swallows; Day 26

Sparrows and Swallows
Update for 2020: This painting was painted in 2013 for a 30 paintings in 30 days challenge that I was participating in, and my paintings for that series were based on the 31 chapters of Proverbs in the Old Testament. When I painted them and blogged about them in 2013, I felt that I understood why I was painting them, and they seemed to fit the passages I was working from. However, today, in light of the global pandemic we are experiencing, I see them a little bit differently. I think that maybe, just maybe, GOD inspired me to paint these things with today in mind. And actually, that would not surprise me too much, since HE is Who HE is, and since I try to listen and follow Him in my painting as well as my daily life.

In this painting, the birds are suggested, not necessarily represented.  Today, in 2020, the birds are reminders to me of how GOD provides all that we need, just as He provides for the birds. In the New Testament, He uses birds to illustrate how much He cares for each one of us (Matthew 10:29-31).

The 2020 verse for this painting is Matthew 10:29-31 (Christian Standard Bible) “ Aren’t two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father’s consent. But even the hairs of your head have all been counted.  So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”

From 2013: It has been a beautiful autumn so far, and I love the chances I have had to be outside. This morning, I looked up into the sky to try to find a flock of birds to watch before I painted. I didn't find the birds (yet), but there is a spectacular half moon in the bright morning sky. It is so beautiful, and I was so surprised to see it! I just had to express my admiration and gratitude to my Heavenly Father - the Creator of the birds and sky and moon - before I came in to paint. I just wish I were able to help you see how delightful it was!

Proverbs 26:2 (ESV) Like a sparrow in its flitting, like a swallow in its flying, a curse that is causeless does not alight.
