The Answer is No

The Answer is No If you follow me on social media, you know that this last week and a half has been very full. It has been really good, and also I am ready for some studio time.  This painting has been in my studio for such a long time! It has been through so many layers and transformations that I very much doubt anyone could copy it, no matter how much he wanted to.  11" x 14" Painted with the finest quality heavy-body acrylic paint on acid-free, heavy weight Fabriano watercolor paper Ready to frame Contact me to purchase. The verse that is collaged here is Proverbs 37:4ff Have your delight in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him too, and He will bring it about... I have lately been thinking about all of the things that I have asked of God that have received the answer "No". So many, many starts have been set aside and then refocused in different directions. And, can I just say, I am so glad? I cannot im

Sing Peace

Image
Sing Peace "In peace, I will both lie down and sleep (down and sleep) In peace, I will both lie down and sleep (down and sleep) For Thou alone O Lord doth make me dwell in safety For Thou alone O Lord doth make me dwell in safety So in peace, I will both lie down and sleep (down and sleep)" When our kids, who are now 28 and 30, were preschoolers - maybe even toddlers - I wanted to help them to start learning verses from the Bible. Some verses had hand motions, some were just repeated over and over, and some were set to music. We knew a LOT of Bible verses set to music, but for this particular one, I wrote the tune, and still sing it to this day.  Part of what has made this song stick with me, I think, is that the melody 'says' what the words and meaning say. The melody is gentle and rocks like a rocking chair. It is almost like a lullaby in some ways. When I first wrote it, it was a fairly simple melodic tune, but as my Beloved Husband and I would sing it to our babie

Hidden

Image
Hidden I probably should have known when, first thing in the morning, I dropped the container and my morning prescription rolled down the drain. It wasn't my day. Next, the phone call I tried to make went straight to voice mail, and then I proceeded to run my errands, making errors at every stop. And you would have thought I would have known better than to go for a new haircut style on a day like that! (I think I will like it. It is actually not much different from what I have had. But still... ) 24" x 24" Painted with artist quality heavy-body acrylic paint on 1.5” deep gallery wrapped canvas Click here to view on my website. As I mentioned yesterday, I have been working on a pair of new paintings for a while now in my studio, and I think they are finally ready to release! They are so similar to each other, and will work well either as a diptych or individually. They both are paintings about being hidden or covered.  The ideas I was mulling over as I worked had more to

Hiding Place

Image
Hiding Place I used to be the one who mowed at our house. I loved mowing! Not so much the dirt and debris in my eyes and the cold or heat, but I loved making something look so neat and tidy, and knowing that it would stay that way for at least a day or two! One day while mowing, I paid extra attention to little holes that were at the bottoms of some of the trees on our property. I took pictures of them and saved them as reference photos for my art because they seemed to say something to me - to have a story of some kind.    24" x 24" Painted with artist quality heavy-body acrylic paint on 1.5” deep gallery wrapped canvas Click here to view on my website. Studio updates

Every Good Gift  For whatever reason, I have been really struggling to keep up with my online work. I do miss "talking to" all of you on a regular basis, that's for sure! I would like to bring you up to date on a few happenings from my studio.  One piece of news I would like to share with you is that this painting, Every Good Gift, has been juried into the SALI National Abstract Exhibition XVII for this year. It will be on display in Indianapolis for the month of October in an exhibit of all abstract paintings. It is always a pleasure when I can attend in person and see a lot of abstract art, so I am looking forward to the opening on October 1. Also, as part of the Fort Wayne Artists Guild, I have had work on display at the Jefferson Pointe Mall for the last several months, and have sold some pieces there too. (Woot!) I have been invited to display some of my paintings at The Landing in Fort Wayne beginning August 21. (Not sure yet which pieces will be displayed there.) I
