Hope

Hope Our son has been visiting us from Dallas Theological Seminary for the last week or so, and it has been such a delight to have him here! (His mother missed him!) He brought home a book that he thought I would enjoy reading, and it has been a good book, though I must admit it is slow reading. It is a study of epistemology   and is written using common words in uncommon ways.  I think, though, that it is really teaching me some things about learning and knowledge.  SOLD 20" x 20" Painted with the finest quality heavy-body acrylic paint on deep gallery-wrapped canvas Ready to hang In my daily Bible reading, I came a few days ago to 1 Corinthians 15 . I don't even have a guess as to how many times I have read this part of the New Testament, but this time through it has been challenging and convicting to me. I know that my heart needs to be tuned to understand what my Heavenly Father has for me in this section, and He is using common words in uncommon ways to ca

Ornament give-away

Image
group shot of ornaments  On my Facebook page , I announced last week that I am planning to give away one Christmas ornament to a newsletter subscriber . Everyone who is already subscribed is eligible, and any new subscribers will be added to the drawing, too. I will choose a winner December 4, and will announce it to my newsletter email list.  I had so much fun making these ornaments! I took a workshop from abstract artist Carol Nelson a few years ago, and this technique is adapted from what I learned in her workshop. I love working with these colors and shapes and surfaces, and the ornaments turned out beautifully.  Ornaments are 3" x 3" and have a gold loop attached for hanging. Each is $15 and you can choose the color of the ornament you want. (If you want a particular one that is pictured, please contact me.) Main color of ornament Red Orange Yellow Purple   I hope that by tomorrow, I will be able to post the painting I have been working on.

Sold at the art fair!

Little Seascape Last Saturday I was part of an art show/fair in my hometown - and INDOOR show, which made it  fabulous! There were so many good artists there, and it was a good turnout for a first year show when there were SEVEN OTHER LOCAL ART AND CRAFT EVENTS !!! Unbelievable!  I was so pleased to sell these two paintings, along with a small ACEO painting and several ornaments that I had made.  Thanks SO MUCH to the friends who came to the events of this weekend, and to those who also purchased work from me! I will have ornaments for sale soon, so if you see a color you like in the photo below, please contact me to reserve one.  Whatever My Lot Ornaments in progress

The FIVE is released!

Image
As of Friday, November 3, 2017 the film 'The FIVE' by Marc Eckel is released for public viewing! This project is a film featuring five artists, of which I am one. My role in this film was to represent the daily painter - an artist who strives to complete a painting each day. I do participate in daily painting challenges a couple of times each year, so it was a role that appealed to me. It was a privilege to work with these artists. I think the film turned out well, too. BIG thank you to Marc Eckel of Blue Spaghetti Films!  Marc has uploaded this 40 minute film to YouTube, and I invite you to have a look at it!

Progressive #4

Progressive #4 After what has felt like a whirlwind week, I am slowing down just a bit today, and I plan to enter this painting, Progressive #4, in a local show and contest at Lakeland Art Association. If you have been following me on my blog, then you know that I have tried a new idea lately with this painting. I started here  and am at least pausing the progress today because I like the painting at this point.  NLA 12" x 12" Painted with the finest quality heavy-body acrylic paint on deep gallery-wrapped canvas Ready to hang Click here to view or purchase on my website. One thing that I am loving about this painting as it progresses is the way that each step, each stage of the painting, leaves a permanent mark on the final work of art.  It may not be very large or noticeable, or it may be glaring, but it is still a part of the complete picture. I love how this is a representation of life, in a sense. I think about how each of us is a work in progress, and how

November Gold ACEO

November Gold ACEO "The first demand any work of art makes upon us is surrender. Look. Listen. Receive. Get yourself out of the way. (There is no good asking first whether the work before you deserves such a surrender, for until you have surrendered you cannot possibly find out.)”  ―  C.S. Lewis ,  An Experiment in Criticism I have not posted any new paintings for a week or more, but have done SOME work as I have been preparing for a really full weekend! I painted 24 new Christmas ornaments for sale and have been preparing for an Art Fair (as those who are signed up for my newsletters will have seen.) Part of my preparations for the fair have included making new ACEO cards for sale. I wanted to have some original art at a lower price point available, so this is one of the things I will be displaying.  Sold 2.5" x 3.5" ACEO Painted with the finest quality heavy-body acrylic paint on acid-free, heavy weight Fabriano watercolor paper These tiny works have been f
