"I love that one, and especially the title," said a man who was looking at my painting Not My Monkeys. Great titles can sometimes add value to the painting, it seems. I have an artist friend who has such creative, fun titles for his realistic watercolors, and it definitely draws people in to his work.

Today, I am interrupting my 30 in 30 theme and I finished this 36" x 48" painting that has been waiting on my easel. I had to paint bigger after all those little 6" x 6" paintings! This painting started out expressing my frustration with battles and distractions breaking out all around me. I was working on medical bills and insurance, and it was NOT an easy thing! (You know the feeling?) There definitely was not a flow to my work, and the same seemed to be happening with the painting. I would paint for a while, look at it, and think it was awful. So I would work on something else in order to get back into the current, so to speak.

When Joshua was leading Israel, GOD told them to step into the swollen flood waters of the Jordan river, right behind the ark of the covenant. Now, I have never been to Israel, and do not know much, but if the photos I saw on my google image search of the Jordan at flood stage are any indication, this was no small step of faith. This was no little stream they were crossing - it was not just a daily frustration or distraction. But the priests did step into that water with the ark of the covenant, and at just the right moment, GOD stopped the water.

Joshua 4:6-7 (New Living Translation) "We will use these stones to build a memorial. In the future your children will ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’  Then you can tell them, ‘They remind us that the Jordan River stopped flowing when the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant went across.’ These stones will stand as a memorial among the people of Israel forever.”

As I navigate the swirling and rushing path of life, I am so thankful to know that my loving Heavenly Father knows exactly which moment to interrupt the stream of circumstances and rescue me, his child.
