Gray Scale

As much as it would seem not to be the case, painting for the 30 in 30 challenge is high on my priority list! It just so happens that other good things pull at me too. I know that EVERY artist, parent, and probably every person is familiar with the struggle! There are so many good things, so many choices to be made, so much to think about!

This brings me to my theme that I am loosely following for this challenge, based on Philippians 4:8 (New American Standard Bible)
"Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things."

(As it turns out, I have skipped one phrase! I will have to go back to it.)

Whatever is right. Again, this is highly debated in current society. In fact, I would guess that many are unsure whether there really is 'right' to think about. I have been reading in 1 John lately, and find much there about sin, love, lawlessness, righteousness, purity, evil... right and wrong. I wanted this painting to indicate that, though much of our lives (maybe most of our choices) may be "gray" - neither right nor wrong, still, there is truly right that I can set my mind on. I also wanted to suggest that our right and wrong choices have consequences that are far reaching.
