I Am His

I Am His
I got to be outside again today, and walked on the boardwalk through a flooded wetland. I saw a robin and lots of flowing water, and the air was crisp and the sun was shining. A rare day in northern Indiana! Spring seems to be just around the corner, though I would guess winter is still lurking, about to pounce! *shudder

This painting is my walk from today! The colors in this painting feel to me like spring colors. I love how they work together to give a landscape feeling, and in some places on the painting (I wish you could tell this!) the under-painting colors almost glow through. There is a lot of texture in this one.

This is one of my favorite hymns, and I nearly didn't get to it during this challenge. The words to this song are so very meaningful to me. They express, at least in part, the comfort and stability that holds me steady - all based in the promise that God, Himself, loves me. Not only does that promise offer me peace, it also makes the world a much sweeter place.

I Am His and He Is Mine

Loved with everlasting love,
Led by grace that love to know;
Gracious Spirit from above,
Thou hast taught me it is so!
Oh, this full and perfect peace!
Oh, this transport all divine!
In a love which cannot cease,
I am His, and He is mine;
In a love which cannot cease,
I am His, and He is mine.

Heav’n above is softer blue,
Earth around is sweeter green;
Something lives in every hue
Christless eyes have never seen;
Birds with gladder songs o’erflow,
Flow’rs with deeper beauties shine,
Since I know, as now I know,
I am His, and He is mine;
Since I know, as now I know,
I am His, and He is mine.

Things that once were wild alarms
Cannot now disturb my rest,
Closed in everlasting arms,
Pillowed on His loving breast;
Oh, to lie forever here,
Doubt and care and self resign,
While He whispers in my ear
I am His, and He is mine;
While He whispers in my ear
I am His, and He is mine.

His forever, only His;
Who the Lord and me shall part?
Ah, with what a rest of bliss
Christ can fill the loving heart!
Heav’n and earth may fade and flee,
Firstborn light in gloom decline,
But while God and I shall be,
I am His, and He is mine;
But while God and I shall be,
I am His, and He is mine.

John 14:1 - 6 “Your heart must not be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if not, I would have told you. I am going away to prepare a place for you. If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come back and receive you to Myself, so that where I am you may be also. You know the way to where I am going.” “Lord,” Thomas said, “we don’t know where You’re going. How can we know the way?” Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."
John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Your heart must not be troubled or fearful."
