Kindness II (Fruit of the Spirit)

Kindness II
Eighteen paintings later, and I have reached the end of the September 30 in 30 painting challenge I am doing. I have loved this challenge! I think I have some new techniques to incorporated in my work, and I have sold a couple of things, too. How fun!

Kindness II is another in a series I am working on for a particular show. It is a show where nine paintings will be grouped together, so not only does each one need to be a good, well balanced painting, but all nine need to fit together well! I am sure that sooner or later I will have nine that I am happy with. :)

Peter and Jesus walking on the water was part of the inspiration for this work once again. Matthew 14:28-31 (New American Standard Bible) Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and *said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” I am struck by the kindness of Jesus' rescue of Peter. Rather than telling him to "Suck it up, Cupcake", Jesus immediately took hold of Peter and saved him. He didn't tell Peter to get it right first - He rescued him. I am so thankful that Jesus doesn't make ME do things right before He reaches out and takes hold of me.

Galatians 5:22-23 (New American Standard Bible) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

  3. This is so beautiful and you're right, we both had similar reactions to this story. I'm so thankful for Jesus's kindness to us!
