Any Day Now 1013 - Calendar

Any Day Now 1013 - Calendar
Last week I was considering what I would paint for my daily paintings, and several of the things that came to my mind reminded me of a grid composition for a painting. One of those things was my calendar. For some reason, my phone and computer have stopped syncing the calendar, so I feel like I cannot trust it to remind me of what I have to keep up with. (I think it is time to get a new phone, but I don't look forward to it. I must be getting too old to enjoy change!)
Also, I can hardly believe that it is already so close to the end of the year, though my calendar clearly indicates that! The autumn color in this painting reminds me of the beauty of this season, and the falling leaves.

4" x 4"
Painted with artist quality heavy-body acrylic paint on 1.5” deep cradled wood panel
Edges painted black

Other "grids" recommended this composition, too. Last week I received a shipment of the remainder of the substrates I needed for this month's daily paintings, and I had laid out all of them to start the process of getting them prepared to accept paint. One of the first things I do is layer a thick, textured layer of gesso on each surface. It is time consuming, but I love the process.

Our cattle fence has drawn my eye more than once with dewy sparkles in the corners of each square space. I have been watching the new calf in our field, and so I notice that fence more than usual. I am still really loving watching that little calf! And what surprising beauty it is when the fence throws all of those little glittering shards of light.

And, there is one more simple thing that I am so thankful for - almost every morning I have a freezer waffle for breakfast. I am thankful for a simple, tasty breakfast, when many around the world suffer hunger and don't know where their next meal might come from, or they may have hours of work to do just to procure food.

Psalm 90:12 So teach us to number our days,
That we may present to You a heart of wisdom.

  1. Hi Brenda, Yes I too am enjoying these perfect fall days as color unfolds in these Virginia mountains. Love these daily paintings. Did you realize there is a face behind the calendar painting in the upper right corner? It looks like you peering behind it as you go through your days and ponder each! Blessings
