Any Day Now 1029 - Golden Hour

Any Day Now 1029 - Golden Hour
My mother loved green and gold. She would have loved the view from my front window this morning, as the rising sun threw long golden beams across the grass! Artists recognize the term "the golden hour" and we like to catch the especially warm light that we see in the evening just as the sun is about to set. But there is a golden hour in the morning, too, and that is what I was watching this morning. It just feels like even the air is gold!

4" x 4"
Painted with artist quality heavy-body acrylic paint on 1.5” deep cradled wood panel
Edges painted black

Yesterday, one of the artists I follow (and I cannot remember who) posted something like, "the artists' goal is to paint something that looks effortless".  In a way, I agree with that statement. I think there is something very appealing in a painting that looks simple to paint, but makes me feel something. (I personally am not fond of realism that looks like a photograph. You might have picked up on that before now!) This painting, like many in this Any Day Now series, captures a feeling and a place for me, even though it looks so simple. Can you see the green shadows on the golden, sunlit grass? (I am afraid the golden hour had long passed before I could take this photo!)

There are only a few days to go in my self imposed painting challenge, and I am having to push hard to finish all 20 paintings by the end of October! I look forward to sharing all of them with you after completing them. Oh, how I have loved doing these paintings!

Psalm 90:12 So teach us to number our days,
That we may present to You a heart of wisdom.
