Philippians 1:6 HCSB "I am sure of this, that He who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."
This painting is part of a series I started when friends of ours stayed in our home as they prepare to go to the mission field. They have been through deep waters, and have also experienced great joy, anticipation, and excitement as they follow the call of the Father. Deep waters, joyful anticipation, and not knowing what is ahead all seem to show up in this work, with the only solid foundation being the cruciform (cross) composition that the painting is built on.
The words of the song my brother and I sang are significant, and seem to be fitting into the theme I have noticed in my life and my paintings for the last while.
"Before the world began you were on His mind
And ev'ry tear you cry is precious in His eyes
Because of His great love He gave His only Son
Ev'rything was done
So you would come
Nothing you can do could make Him love you more
And nothing that you've done could make Him close the door
Because of His great love He gave His only Son
Ev'rything was done
So you would come
Chorus
Come to the Father though your gift is small
Broken hearts broken lives He will take them all
The power of the Word the power of His blood
Ev'rything was done
So you would come"

DeleteI love this painting! And what a beautiful song, no wonder you cracked at the end. Music often does that to me,too.
ReplyDeleteYes, it was a beautiful song, and was unfamiliar to me. I loved hearing my brother sing, too. Such a special occasion!
