There is a song that has been playing in my head for the last several days, and it is called Where Can I Go That My Maker Won't Be? I heard it live in concert a few months ago, and every time I listen to it now, I appreciate it more. The lyrics are so good, and the melody says the same thing that the words say, to my ear anyway. (You can find the lyrics with this YouTube video of the song.)
Psalm 139 in the Old Testament has a similar phrase, and though it is expressed differently, it still speaks of the comfort of God's presence in every part of life. Oh, that thought has been so valuable to me in the last months! The way my eye moves around Where Can I Go?, and the deep darks and bright, light colors remind me of the depths and the highlights of emotion, and the metallic colors represent to me the presence of God in them all.
Psalm 139:7-12 Where can I go to escape Your Spirit?
Where can I flee from Your presence?
If I go up to heaven, You are there;
if I make my bed in Sheol, You are there.
If I live at the eastern horizon
or settle at the western limits,
even there Your hand will lead me;
Your right hand will hold on to me.
If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me,
and the light around me will be night”—
even the darkness is not dark to You.
The night shines like the day;
darkness and light are alike to You.
