Plays Well With Others

Plays Well With Others has been in progress for a long time, and started out with my thoughts about boundaries. I wonder whether you can see that concept in this painting. It strikes me that, even though the shapes are sharp and the colors are complements (which would often be conflicting and jarring to the eye), the painting is working together harmoniously.
Both horizontally and vertically, the painting works well. It is a size that I have not used before - at least not in a long time - at 24" x 48". Also, I chose to use a favorite paint color even though it is no longer available, (so when my stash is used up, it cannot be replaced). The color is Nickel Azo Gold by Golden, and it has been a favorite for quite a while because of how it interacts with other colors. It is the orange color that is actually on the entire canvas, though it has been covered in some areas.

The other morning, I asked my Beloved Husband whether he would like to memorize some passages from the Bible with me. I don't know whether you remember me telling you before, but I do like to memorize, but find that the passages don't stick with me as long as I wish they would, so I can memorize the same sections over and over... Anyway, when I thought of what I expected him to want to memorize, my first thought was of Psalm 133:1 and then later in the day, to my surprise, I found myself reading that Psalm (out of my usual order - I had been reading in a different part of the Old Testament) in my Bible reading time!
Psalm 133:1 How good and pleasant it is
when brothers live together in harmony!
My BH has worked with his brother in the family business for nearly 30 years now, and they still get along well and appreciate each other. We are well aware that that kind of thing is very rare, and in fact, we considered very carefully before coming back to Indiana from his previous job, knowing that it is unusual for family to be able to work together and maintain good relationships! My BH says that part of their success is in each one having areas where he is in charge, and each recognizing the other's role in that way.
Right now, my brother and I are working together on something, too, and it is probably the first time in our lives that we have worked so closely on a project! I am just extremely thankful that it is going very smoothly between us, and again it seems to be helpful to have our own particular areas of focus as we tackle the whole undertaking.
So, one might say that our boundaries are helping us to "play well with others", wouldn't you think?
