I Am

I Am
Though I have not been posting much in the last week or two, I have managed some time in the studio! I have been working on another larger canvas, and it has been a challenge for me. This one is 18 x 54, so the usual composition structures have to be adapted to work well.

I like the repeated shapes in this work - both the clear, sharp shapes and the shadowed, suggested reflections. Though it is difficult to see here, there is a reflected rainbow pattern on the shapes on the right of the painting, and also on the horizontal area to the left. There is quite a bit of iridescent accent work.

The triangle shapes were built from the letters in the Name, I AM, the name GOD calls Himself. I read about the throne of God, the Creator of Heaven and earth several places in the Bible to find more to spur my mind with HIS beauty. HIS throne is described several places in the Bible, and my mind is overwhelmed with what it must look like. Of course, there is no way I could ever begin to paint it - in fact, I think it was difficult for the authors of the Bible to even paint the picture with their words. Still, this painting reminds me of HIS beauty.

Revelation 4:2 Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne was standing in heaven, and One sitting on the throne. 3 And He who was sitting was like a jasper stone and a sardius in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, like an emerald in appearance.

Ezekiel 1:26 Now above the expanse that was over their heads there was something resembling a throne, like lapis lazuli in appearance; and on that which resembled a throne, high up, was a figure with the appearance of a man. 27 Then I noticed from the appearance of His loins and upward something like glowing metal that looked like fire all around within it, and from the appearance of His loins and downward I saw something like fire; and there was a radiance around Him. 28 As the appearance of the rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the surrounding radiance. Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. And when I saw it, I fell on my face and heard a voice speaking.
