Abstract Landscape
A couple of months ago, I was asked to submit art and an article to a publication for consideration. I felt honored that they sought me out and invited me to submit! I don't know yet whether I have been included in the next publication, but I would like to share some quotes from artists featured in the first issue of Revelations of the Artist.
"Only a loving God, a Master Creator, could conceive the infinite beauty our small planet provides." Karen Philpott, Revelations of the Artist, p.51*
10" x 10"
Painted with the finest quality heavy-body acrylic paint on acid-free, heavy weight Fabriano watercolor paper
Mounted on 1.5" deep cradled panel, edges painted black
"I believe that creativity is a wonderful expression of life and praise that can be developed and enjoyed in many aspects by anyone and everyone. I also believe that, for some, creativity and skilled expression is a gift and a calling, requiring vision and providing beautiful evidence of our Creator, the source of the gift, call, and vision. James Nelson Lewis, Revelations of the Artist, p.31
(This little painting is today's practice painting for my upcoming workshop. I chose to practice a horizontal composition in this work, and it sure lends itself to an abstracted landscape!)
Though this past month has been intense for me on a personal level, I did make the time to write my article, and in preparing for writing, I read through the first ROTA book. I found it inspirational, and the beauty of the art and the words of faith were helpful to me in difficult days.
I love it that art can be used by our God to bring joy and peace and beauty to people - me included!
Psalm 96:6-7 "Splendor and majesty are before Him;
strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.
Ascribe to the Lord, you families of the peoples,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength."
*As I mentioned, I don't know yet whether my art and writing will be in their second book, but here is a link where you can see a bit of the first book. It is such a high quality review of art and artists! You might want to check it out, and I will let you know if I am part of the next book they produce.
