Yesterday I was moving pretty slowly around here, and it wasn't until late in the day that I picked up my paintbrush. I had been looking at an art magazine, and this bamboo plant caught my eye, inspiring me to give painting it a try!

I especially like the texture and details that are not as easy to see in this little painting. Also, the off center composition is appealing, and reminds me a little of Chinese or Japanese paintings. I love the simplicity of those works, and how so much can be communicated with so few brush marks.
