Higher Glory

Higher Glory
"I think I'm gonna be ok," he said on video chat, and I immediately felt a little better. We have had a crazy summer, with the latest adventure being sending our adult children off on a road trip and new home adventure. They are a great team, and we love to see how well they tackle and conquer the unexpected, particularly when they are together. Our son finally contacted us after several days to show us his apartment and tell us he was beginning to be at home there.

Somehow or other, I expected life to seem less hectic when the kids were established in their respective homes/schools. Not so much!

This painting has been an absolute delight to paint, and a pain to photograph! (It is just SO BIG!) One of the trickier parts is seeing where it needs that something... a touch up or more color, or whatever, and that is because it is so difficult to see it all because it is so big. Hmm. It is difficult to see the big picture.

That has been the case as our family has been in such states of transition this summer. It has been difficult to see the big picture, but the big picture is where we see GOD at work. Don't misunderstand me - HE has been at work in every small detail, preparation, and arrangement. But that big picture...

In this reading from Psalm 108, I can tell the psalmist was overwhelmed by the big picture, too. I think that God's love, faithfulness, and glory were SO BIG that the writer could hardly see it all. Yet, that very enormity was beautiful and delightful to him.

I hoped to represent some of that huge beauty and glory with this painting. I hope you can see it in this painting, of course, but more than that, I hope you are overwhelmed by the big picture of God's faithful love for you.

Psalm 108:4-5 (HCSB) "For Your faithful love is higher than the heavens, and Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. God, be exalted above the heavens, and let Your glory be over the whole earth.
