All Around Me
All Around Me. Do these words hold memories or thoughts for you? I remember a children's book that went with a song, and I remember the book because I loved the illustrations. 

It seems to me that there could be so many connections made with the title All Around Me - so many different ways to see what I have painted. I hope that some of the things in my mind show up for you as you look at it. 

While it is true that I have been struggling to put words to much of what I thought about, I can tell you that the painting has been on my easel for so long, and that it has so many layers and so much texture. I can mention the fluorescent and metallic paint and the marks made by pencil and Stabilo Woodies. I can even talk about the compositional choices. But those things don't help me get to put the THOUGHTS into words.

Maybe if I give you a list of some of the ideas I have thought about with this painting, you can see some of them in it:

  • The Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.
  • In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
  • Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind...
  • In the beginning was the Word... All things were created through Him.
  • Casting all your care on Him, because He cares about you
  • A hundred billion galaxies
  • Hurricanes
  • Twirling little girls in dresses
  • Swirling thoughts


Numbers 6:24 - 26
May Yahweh bless you and protect you;
may Yahweh make His face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
may Yahweh look with favor on you
and give you peace.

1 Peter 5:6-7 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your care on Him, because He cares about you.
