Show Me the Way

Today it was (already) difficult to get into my studio and get a completed work done. How will I ever keep it up for the whole month!? But I do love the process, so I will keep at it if I can.  6" x 6" Painted with the finest quality acrylic heavy-body paint on hand-made, prepared wood panel Ready to frame Click here to purchase via my website. After a lot of thought, I chose to paint with red (which I don't use a lot) and with a composition that is very heavy in one area, overhanging the smaller focus where more and different things are happening. Having told you that, I want the painting to speak with its own voice today, and you to try to hear what it is saying. I hope you find that fun, and that it makes the painting your own, in some sense! I think this little painting is another one that would look good as a huge painting. Maybe I will work on that at some point, though smaller paintings are needed in order to finish them in a single day. My Bible reading today took...

New Every Morning #37

New Every Morning #37 It is a splendidly sunny day again here in Indiana! I am not at all sure how to behave when we have so much sunshine. Do I go outside and soak up some vitamin D, or do I get back in the studio and paint (or on the computer and blog)? On days like this, everything I see is beautiful...  I have been working on a project in the studio that I plan to share next week. I have finished two of the three paintings in the group, and so far, I am happy with them!  My Beloved Husband is improving daily from his shoulder surgery, though it is still a painful and long ordeal ahead. He is out of his sling for the most part and starting to stretch and strengthen his arm and shoulder.  6" x 6" Painted with the finest quality acrylic heavy-body paint on hand-made, prepared wood panel Ready to frame Click here to purchase via my website. On bright days like today, I am so thankful that my Heavenly Father offers his lovingkindness "new every morning...

New Every Morning #27

New Every Morning #27 Early this morning I started my quiet time of Bible reading and prayer in 'my spot', looking out across our pasture and woods. I was listening to the Dallas Theological Seminary video of last night's worship chapel, and watching the ground fog over the pasture. The combination of the music/celebration of praise and the illustration of beauty sidetracked me, and I interrupted my quiet time (or maybe just experienced it in a different way) by heading to the studio to paint a morning painting.  6" x 6" Painted with the finest quality acrylic heavy-body paint on hand-made, prepared wood panel Ready to frame Click here to view on my website. James 4:14 (ESV) "yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes."  (By the way, I found this passage to be comforting, surprisingly enough...) Lamentations 3:22-23 "The steadfast love of th...

New Every Morning #22

New Every Morning #22 You would probably be very surprised to learn how much work this little painting has taken, and how many, many layers are on it! Once again I am working on a wood panel that has been prepared with textured modeling paste. It has been fun practice to learn how the surface reacts with the different kinds of paints I am using.  NLA While I don't expect this little work to have a huge fan following, I love it and love seeing how the textures are showing up. (I am pretty sure it will not be popular based on the opinion of our cat, who batted it out of my hand a couple of times and then turned her back in utter disdain...)  Lamentations 3:22-23 "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness." Tique turns her back Tique bats the painting out of my hand

New Every Morning #11

New Every Morning #11 In our area of Indiana, the last week was full of bad news. There were two horrific automobile accidents where people died, and then a day later an acquaintance of mine who had just arrived on the mission field with his large family was gunned down. I am still a little in shock from that event.  Last night, as has been the case for the last while, I woke during the night with a heavy heart. This time, I spent a long time praying for the people whose lives will never be the same after those terrible events.  This New Every Morning painting represents a bit of my thoughts of the darkness - maybe fog - that is so difficult to see through. Yet, there is hope.  Let me tell you something about Charles Wesco, the man who was killed on the mission field. Charles was a piano tuner who had come to my home at least once a year for the last 20 years or so. Charles was profoundly knowledgeable about and deeply engaged with piano tuning. He knew the fact...
