Please Stay On the Line, and, Your Call is Important to Us, part a

Please Stay On the Line
I am releasing a new diptych today! I will be sharing the paintings to my website separately (for marketing purposes) so my blog and newsletter readers will get to see the works together before anyone else does.

2 paintings to be used either together or separately, vertical or horizontal orientation

36" x 48" each
Painted with artist quality heavy-body acrylic paint on 1.5” deep gallery wrapped canvas
Edges painted black

The first of these paintings, Please Stay On the Line has a slightly less balanced feel to it, and it reminds me of the uncertainty of waiting without knowing when the next part of the answer will come. Both parts of this set started out with canvas activated with Bible verses, and much of that background shows through. I used tools and colors I rarely use, and it took concentration as well as conversation with family to pull a painting together that I am pleased with.

Here are two translations of a passage in the Psalms that means a lot to me. And verse 14 is one that I memorized with my kids when they were toddlers by making hand motions to go with them.

Psalm 27:13-14
I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord
    in the land of the living!
Wait for the Lord;
    be strong, and let your heart take courage;
    wait for the Lord!

Psalm 27:13-14
 [What, what would have become of me] had I not believed that I would see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living!
Wait and hope for and expect the Lord; be brave and of good courage and let your heart be stout and enduring. Yes, wait for and hope for and expect the Lord.

One might say that we are in a holding pattern around here. (Is that common terminology? As someone who grew up in an aviation family, I heard it often. I guess I am not sure whether it is a common phrase in general usage.)  We have had some very significant changes in our lives lately, and are still in the middle of many of them. One part of our new situation seems to be all balled up in red tape, and we have to "stay on the line" as we wait to see what the Heavenly Father has planned for us.

Next time, I will blog more about part b of this diptych, Your Call is Important to Us. Talk to you soon!
