Coming soon to my website.
Our weekend paint out coincided with the Village Art Fair, and also with the Farmers' Market that happen in the quaint community of Winona Lake, IN. The art fair has long been an event I enjoy in the summer, and I participated for many years by having my own booth there. The farmers' market draws my Beloved Husband and me for breakfast many Saturday mornings. The Northern Indiana Plein Air Painters had a booth at the fair, and we members were encouraged to attend and participate by doing plein air paintings in the area, so for my first painting, I found a shelter in the park between the art fair and the farmers' market and set up my gear to paint.
Well, that was a big challenge for my first painting of the weekend! It was full of shapes and colors and details that were almost overwhelming, and I kind of felt like I should have had a warm up of some kind first! But I finished a painting that I think is interesting, and one that manages to share the feeling of the opening of the art fair. At the same time, for people who are familiar with the local sights, the pond and statue take center stage so that the painting is kind of a celebration of the whole summer in the area.
