Pleasant to Your Soul Day two of the painting challenge, and I already have decided to change a thing or two! :) Learning every single day, right? This painting is inspired by Proverbs 2:4-5 and 10. By request, I am adding the whole text of the verses. (Great idea!)  "If you seek [wisdom] like silver     and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord     and find the knowledge of God. for wisdom will come into your heart,     and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul" (ESV) 11" x 14" acrylic on panel Leave comment or contact me directly to purchase. Prov 1:9 Day 1, complete! I have 'officially' joined a 30 paintings in 30 days challenge, along with over 300 other artists, and am excited to get started! I am even more excited to see what I will have learned at the end of this month! I have a plan for where I hope to head with my paintings, but today's work is only the beginning! This painting is based on Proverbs 1:9. The 31 chapters of the Biblical book of Proverbs seemed to me to be a great point of inspiration, combining my beginner's love of painting with my life long love of Scripture.  The bright greens and yellows and the rich "Quinacridone/Nickel Azo Gold" suggest life and vitality. The iridescent copper is  a great touch of surprise and luxury. 11" x 14" acrylic on panel Leave comment or contact me directly to purchase.

SO excited to tell you... my new book is published and ready for purchase! I used 26 paintings that I did in June of this year, and explanations about them, as well as journal entries from the last several years to self-publish my first book. I have the proof copy in my hands, and I think it is beautiful! Contact me for more information!

Silver Cord 1  I am so excited to post this little 'triptych' (of sorts) called Silver Cord! The individual paintings in this trio look great hanging in a set, or as single works. I absolutely love the way they turned out!  acrylic on boards 3 panels - 7.25" x 7.25" Leave comment or contact me directly to purchase. Silver Cord 2 Each painting shares the same color group and style and I incorporated sgrafitto techniques in each.  Silver Cord 3 Probably my favorite part of the paintings is the silver cord that runs through the whole set.  Set of 3

Follow the Light 8" x 10" mixed media on canvas Follow the Light is the painting I did for Christmas in 2012. I had been selected to test new paints, and this is one of the paintings I did during that test period.  This painting holds great significance to me and uses different media and techniques to represent different concepts. SOLD 8" x 10" mixed media on canvas The overall meaning I wanted to portray with this painting is the meaning of the Christmas story: Christ came into a dark world to rescue. First, it is significant that the focal point (which is iridescent and a raised, textured surface) is different from all that surrounds it. The focal point represents the manger which contained God Himself, in the person of Jesus Christ. Next, the dark swirling background is indicative of the darkness and sameness of the mundane.  The lighter color, and the streams of glossy surface (which are difficult to see in the photo) come from th...

NFS 22' x 30' acrylic on watercolor I am so excited to post this picture! I have finally finished this special commission ... for my son! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Cannot wait to see it hanging in his house!

I am not sure, but maybe she lives in Detroit... I wanted an urban setting for her, but it looks slightly unkempt. I love the warm watercolor tones behind the simple ink drawing.  4" x 6" ink and watercolor on watercolor paper Leave comment or contact me directly to purchase.
