Exit the Traffic Circle

My gut says I wanted to express the swirling doubts, the crazy backdrop of life as I /people live it these days. But how does it pull together?
11" x 14"
Painted with the finest quality heavy-body acrylic paint on acid-free, heavy weight Fabriano watercolor paper
Ready to frame
For one thing, the painting makes me feel a tiny bit claustrophobic. But also, there are things that show that an artist painted it, not a 6 year old. The repetition in all quadrants, the cruciform or grid composition, the curves and colors in all quadrants.
The row of 5 squares draws the eye as the focal point, even if it is not in it's usual placement. Hmm. Not in it's usual placement.
It is so very busy that it is hard to define a single focus. Huh.
I actually love it gray scale, and there is SO much to look at!
How about Exit the Traffic Circle? My Beloved Husband and I were driving the big flatbed pickup to get a load for his work the other day. Over the four hours in the cab, we talked about some of the projects we are working on, and watched traffic and the maps. We were so busy getting to our destination, and so focused on safety and expediency, that we missed some of the lovely sights along the way, and some of the landmarks we frequently spot.
I have been working on this painting for quite a while, along with many others. As usual, I have several pieces going at a time. And also, as I have mentioned, my BH and I have some huge projects at hand, and there are so many things we need to focus on, seemingly all at the same time. The painting has expressed these thoughts, and I think this title works well, too. Exit the Traffic Circle expresses that distraction, repetition, and off kilter focus very well, doesn't it?
Truly, these days when our daily life seems so crazy, I desperately need to "exit the traffic circle" and take the time to read my Bible and pray. It keeps me right side up, if you know what I mean!
Luke 10:38-42 While they were traveling, Jesus entered a village, and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. She had a sister named Mary, who also sat at the Lord’s feet and was listening to what He said. But Martha was distracted by her many tasks, and she came up and asked, “Lord, don’t You care that my sister has left me to serve alone? So tell her to give me a hand.” The Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has made the right choice, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Psalm 27:4 I have asked one thing from the Lord;
it is what I desire:
to dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life,
gazing on the beauty of the Lord
and seeking Him in His temple.
So, I apologize for this crazy, scattered post, but it is how things are these days! And I hope you get to exit the traffic circle into God's presence for some respite today.
