A Vase of Happy

A Vase of Happy
It was delightful to return to the studio after celebrating with my son and his new bride this past weekend! Since their wedding occurred just as spring is thinking about coming to our neck of the woods, I decided to paint flowers from life. Not my usual painting, but I loved remembering that I do, in fact, know how to paint!

Painted with the finest quality heavy-body acrylic paint on acid-free, heavy weight Fabriano watercolor paper

I started with a yellow background because I wanted to communicate brightness and happiness. I love it when the back layers come through to the front, as I might have mentioned once or twice before... My first sketching layer was violet-red. I limited myself to using five colors that coordinate with my last painting, and the violet-red was the mid tone that could show through all of the other colors as I worked.

Before I tell more about the weekend, wedding, and painting, I want to mention some good news that I learned about last week. I am a featured artist in a new publication called New Christian Makers, issue 2. I think there are 3 or 4 pages of this book dedicated to my paintings.  There are some artists who I follow, and respect who have been featured in the first and second issues of this publication, and it can be ordered on the website here. I expect my copy to arrive any day now, so watch for my post about that if you follow me on social media.

Numbers 6:24-26 'The Lord bless you, and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine on you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up His countenance on you,
And give you peace.’

As the reception neared its end, the father of the bride called all in attendance to pray short, audible prayers for the new family. I overheard my Beloved Husband as he prayed, and he blessed them and prayed the above verses over them. My favorite part of this Biblical blessing is "The Lord make His face shine on you".
